Novachild - Spooky (Music Video)

Wow, what a busy, creative weekend this has been. Posted two finished videos, and submitted a finished remix that hopefully I can talk about in the next couple of days.

Hope you strange people out there are embracing your own creative nature. If not, what are you waiting for?????

New Video of Old Song: Stargazers Reimagined

What follows is my first attempt at making a music video. The song was written in 2006 by Tim Casey, who played guitar in my old band Jonas & The Infidels and is now enjoying his solo exploration. It's my one and only cover song to date, aside from an entertaining remake of the Doctor Who theme (obligatory in computer musician circles, it seems).

Enjoy, and comment!

In other news, Novachild is working on a remix for Voodoo Velcro, an Industrial / Techno band from Atlanta, GA. I'm also continuing to work on the forthcoming Novachild LP, "In Silico," which is tentatively due to be finished by May 1, 2008.

More live dates should be announced in the coming weeks as well. Stay tuned!

Cheers,
Bruce

New Projector for Novachild Visuals

I'm excited about my new acquisition, an Epson Powerlite 77C, which will add an exciting visual element to Novachild performances.

My lovely girlfriend Jennifer has also agreed to be my VJ, and she picked an adorable 'VJ Name' as well. Serenity! My favorite space ship, lol.

We will be working to incorporate visuals, as well as continuing to work on the forthcoming LP "In Silicico," which will hopefully be available by the end of April or at least early May.

Updates

For those of you who visit my blog on a regular basis, you might have noticed that it was missing for a few days. I've changed web hosts to increase my disc space and save a little money, and so far I'm quite happy with the move. It took a little extra effort to get the blog republished, and I seem to have lost a few posts, but no worries.

UPDATES:

I'm doing ok health-wise. Paid a little visit to the doc yesterday. My blood pressure was still a bit high, so now I'm taking meds for that. Unfortunately, the medication makes me somewhat lethargic, so there will be an adjustment period.

I have an appointment with a sleep apnea specialist in a couple of weeks... additional testing, research etc. on why my blood pressure suddenly peaked for no obvious reasons. More bloodwork, yadda yadda. I couldn't be less excited, but it's for my highest good I suppose.

Meanwhile, I may be playing a benefit concert with Jonas in the near future, and Novachild is busy working to schedule more performances for the Spring/Summer.

Weekend Roundup

Friday: After an ER visit and a day off of work, I put in a full shift. The pain meds slowed time down to a standstill and I struggled to remain awake as the painkiller and the valium did their work. Spent all night at home working on finishing touches for my Saturday night performance. Caught up on Torchwood and Lost. Torchwood was touching and sad this week, and the Lost premiere was so-so.

Saturday: Layed around trying to let my body heal. Worked on music some more. Took lots of cat naps. Played a nice, profitable show at Exit 6C where I was blessed with a crowd of 60+ (not including the four performers). Saw a few faces I haven't seen in awhile, and a few new faces as well, and played a full 2 hour set without stopping even though I was in a great deal of pain and feeling lethargic from the meds. Drank a gallon of water in about four hours and sweat it all out on stage. The club was very happy with the turnout and invited me back sometime in the next 4-6 weeks, which is great news because it's a nice venue. They have a nicer PA than most live venues in Tulsa, or perhaps a better sound man.

Sunday: Woke up early. Went to see a matinee with Jennifer. We actually payed to see the new Rambo movie, and aside from a couple of cheesy lines it was actually pretty decent. Bloody and gory as fuck. Far more violent than anything I've seen since Grindhouse. My main motivation for watching it was the lead actress, Julie Benz, who played Darla in Buffy and in Angel. Stallone does not look 62, and he still can't act, but it was still great matinee fun. Next weekend I intend to see Juno - if it's still in the theaters.

All in all, a satisfying weekend. it was good to play again, as being on stage expressing myself through music is the greatest feeling in the world. It brings me life, energy and purpose. I hope everyone enjoyed the music as much as I enjoyed performing it!
