Evidence
4/30/2007
Evidence of my developing psychic prowess. I am one step closer to becoming Professor X today.
My friend J asks me to hop on the IM because she has something to tell me. So I hop on. I write... "So you're pregnant?" She seems surprised that I know. Somehow I did know. I just knew it and there wasn't any doubt.
*cue twilight zone theme*
Not a bad way to begin my vision quest :) Granted, that's an especially cheesy, hippified way of relating to my current indulgence, so perhaps I should think up something more original and targeted. It really doesn't matter, but it will make it easier to reference in conversation if I don't have to spell out every little detail to the three people I talk to more than once a year. LOL

Being Mindful
A wise musician once said to me, "Be Mindful of What You Have."
Sometimes this can mean putting the nose to the grindstone, giving it every drop of blood until it's dead on the floor or becomes a sentient being of its own. Other times this means knowing when to make space for new energy to fill the heart and soul, to give thanks for that which pleases and fulfills, to nourish and renew the creative spark.
Since the marital separation last year, I have used music to 'get me through' rough times. My illusion was that rough times would pass and goodness would come from persistence. Since then I have blamed a dissolved marriage for creative infertility; I borrowed energy from other important realms of my life to fuel my continuing output.
Now I get to have my realization with a side of romance with the muse.
I plan on using the next few months of my life as a walkabout, a vision quest, a transformatve time while I recharge. Many weekend getaways to who knows where are to be expected... Travelling has always been my greatest inspiration. Who knows where I will end up? What really matters is what impressions will be made on my psyche and how they impact my vision as a creative person. I have no expectations, in any case.

God Bless You, Mr. Trout
4/11/2007
Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. just died. Tis a sad day.
I loved Cat's Cradle, Player Piano, Breakfast of Champions (this * is a sphincter, LOL), and Slaughterhouse Five. I read everything he wrote, cover to cover, as a young man. When I worked at a cubicle farm in downtown Tulsa, I would take lunch breaks in the main mall and read Vonnegut novels in the shade. Between Vonnegut, Tom Robbins, Terry Pratchett and Herman Hesse, my 20-somethings would not have been the same without them. Especially Vonnegut.
So it goes.

Just In Case
Just in case you may be wondering about me, my stress level, and my ability to hibernate in times of intense life change.
1/ New cat (that makes 4 felines in my apartment)
2/ Stopped smoking (and I want to kill)
3/ My car died; this time it's permanent.
4/ I have to renew a lease at my semi-crappy apartment complex.
That's just this week. I wonder what next week will be like.
