My First Turkish Coffee
11/02/2007
My friend and coworker Randy shared a cup of authentic Turkish Coffee with me today.
I just have to say.... espresso is weak! Weak! I tell you! This stuff is the creme de la creme of coffee beverages. What I enjoy about it most is the texture, and the way it is prepared in a little copper pot with an angled handle called a Cezve.
Preparing turkish coffee is a fine, delicate art. Because it will begin to foam as it boils, you have to watch carefully. You are supposed to let it foam three times before serving, pulling it off of the stove after each initial foaming and being very careful not to create a coffee volcano. The stimulating effect is nice, too. I now understand why there are so many thinkers and poets in the Middle East. This stuff is definitely brain candy.

I have wanted one of those forever! I never use a regular coffee pot; the coffee quality and caffeine extraction is just way too low. I use a french press, which I absolutely love, but I want a moka press and a cezve terribly.

The coffee cup that you are drinking with is almost as important as the coffee it self , a well designed cup would definitely boost your joy!
