Being Mindful

A wise musician once said to me, "Be Mindful of What You Have."

Sometimes this can mean putting the nose to the grindstone, giving it every drop of blood until it's dead on the floor or becomes a sentient being of its own. Other times this means knowing when to make space for new energy to fill the heart and soul, to give thanks for that which pleases and fulfills, to nourish and renew the creative spark.

Since the marital separation last year, I have used music to 'get me through' rough times. My illusion was that rough times would pass and goodness would come from persistence. Since then I have blamed a dissolved marriage for creative infertility; I borrowed energy from other important realms of my life to fuel my continuing output.

Now I get to have my realization with a side of romance with the muse.

I plan on using the next few months of my life as a walkabout, a vision quest, a transformatve time while I recharge. Many weekend getaways to who knows where are to be expected... Travelling has always been my greatest inspiration. Who knows where I will end up? What really matters is what impressions will be made on my psyche and how they impact my vision as a creative person. I have no expectations, in any case.
