James Brown Is Dead
12/25/2006
It's true.
He lived a long time, my friends, and defined soul for generations of music lovers. So cut a rug in his honor.

My Current Favorite Song
12/22/2006
Gravenhurst - Cities Beneath The Sea
I live on both sides of the mirror
Feel the pain that destruction brings
I want to help put everything in its place
I want to destroy everything
There are cities underneath cities
Cities beneath the sea
In deserted towns and burial mounds
There is beauty that no-one will see
And the magic of stones when taken back home
Is left on the beach
The dead see through the eyes of the living
The dead know all of our names
Powerless to stop us repeating the same
Careless mistakes that they made
There are cities underneath cities
Cities beneath the sea
In deserted towns and burial mounds
There is beauty that no-one will see
And the magic of stones when taken back home
Is left on the beach

All I Want For Xmas...
I haven't blogged on a personal level for some time. Mostly my posts have been about gigs or random things I've discovered on the net.
Things have been very difficult in the life of Novachild since September 1. When my wife of six years decided to leave without warning, I was left to pick up the pieces and carry them to a new apartment, with new bills, dynamics, and a completely new lifestyle. I've been somewhat of a recluse, but I am keeping busy with work, band-related activities, keeping the place clean and occasionally finding comfort in a very small group of friends. The cats are keeping me company as well. I don't know what I'd do without them.
Thus we enter the mythic realm of the holiday season, a time where everyone is supposed to don the 'good will' hat and honor their spiritual foundations. For me, this will be a challenging season. This is the first Christmas ever that I will not spend with my wife. In addition, my family will be out of state, so it seems I will be alone on Christmas morning. While everyone else awakens to pretty, wrapped gifts and luscious food, I will be waking up alone in my apartment, scrambling for a bowl of cereal. At the least, I can enjoy watching the cats 'tree-surf' (a phrase I coined watching them climb the tree, knock it down and ride it all the way to the floor). I'm hopeful I will find enough satisfaction in the little things to enjoy the holiday spirit in a unique way this year.
Still, no amount of optimism will coat the fact that I am truly alone for the holidays. It is a little uncomfortable, but I'm welcoming it to some degree. On the flipside, it will keep things simple. I can't afford gifts anyhow, or even cards for friends and family. A part of me wants to experience the solitude.
Still, if anybody wants to buy a Christmas gift for me, I'm not exactly against the idea. Car repairs would be wonderful. Socks and underwear. A pirate shower curtain. Anything on my Amazon Wish List. I can't promise anything in return this year except eternal gratitude and kindness. But most people will receive that from me anyhow.

Argue With Me. It Makes Me Tasty!

Hell hath frozen over. Dr. Laura has a new action figure.
Of course, if you can somehow manage to puncture the plastic, these pins would make a great addition to turn this into a nice voodoo doll.
