Love Come Soft
10/18/2006
On the eve of my last day in the house of my beloved wife, I am simultaneously cleaning and packing my things. We are separated. It is a certainty, the only one in my life at this time. In the process, I found a poem that I wrote several years ago shortly after we were married.
here it is, unfiltered. It seems an appropriate enough farewell to everything I have called home for a decade or more.
Love
Love come soft
a feather touching ground
specks of angel dust
float in eyes
of devils
Sun hugs the earth
with tendrils of light
Brush Gaea's swollen belly
Brush along infinity's skin
We are wind, rain and sun
Here comes the forecast
on two legs
and a pair of
gesturing arms
Love come hard
and sharp like steel
slice through the cobweb
the power to dissolve
the power to build
Rides these tendrils of light
Tames these
Wild bulls in the wind
Brush along
the skin
draw the lines
whittle the wood
fill the empty space
with itself

Once More Around
10/12/2006
My wintry sleep
has ended for the rustling
of autumn's soft decay
With aching hands I beat
a path to my ethos
With bloody fingers
I pound my gallant
resolve from the earth
Assembling old, worn
dreamless shadows
into nets for the void
to hide in summer rain
my faraway center
Left back in springtime
Waiting for seasons
To take me out cold
In my bare nest
Naked
