Novachild Shows in August

Tim Casey and Jonas Adrian will be joining me on stage for various performances, as well as Pauly Hart on didjeridoo. More details to come. Please come out to support live electronic music in Oklahoma; it is a rare thing here, and it needs to grow.

modifying the Site

I'm slowly modifying the site. Having a fairly useless front page and a separate journal seemed a bit silly to me, so I combined both ideas into one.

I'll be converting the old pages to the new format in the 'near' future. Meanwhile all of the content is still here. Be patient with the old, ugly pages. I'll get round to them eventually :)

Poem for a Friend

I cool in autumn shade
with mist and leaves
Between the burning center
and cold infinity

Just you
and everything
Poised on the edge
of a string
waiting
to be
plucked

the circus
Breathes a sigh
of relief

And this one
sees the rarity
that is you
and explodes
raining leaves
upon myself

Just In Case You Were Wondering

My belief (blink and you'll miss it):

I shudder when the word 'system' is used to present my concept of the nature of the universe, mainly because I try to keep my eyes open for new things and I'm careful not to let my beliefs get 'in the way' of seeing stuff that doesn't fit my concepts. It's tough for me to hand over a set of bullet points and say "this is what I think is going on," because as each day passes, each new discovery either reinforces or shakes up my concepts. Historically, it's been easier to say "I have no real beliefs," which is true in spirit but is not entirely reflective of my experience. So what follows is a highly simplified summary of my 'belief.'

I believe that there is a force that holds it all together, a unified field of experience, creativity, love, wisdom etc. It's what I choose to do with this awareness that defines my spiritual life. I believe everything is working as a unified experience. By everything, I mean time, space, thought, manifestation, and the stuff inbetween; I believe in synchronicity and serendipity. I believe rituals and words can be empowering, and that thought is creative.

I believe that what empowers me also binds me. To my words and actions. I believe that nothing can empower that doesn't exist already inside and out.

To believe that 'God' is beyond, that the 'Devil' is where bad comes from, is the easing of responsibility and the very superstition that robs people of their personal power.

More Stuff... And ValleySchwag 3

For the record, I want the Photon Synth AND the LunarModule as well as the Thingyma.... whatzit (see prev. post if you think I'm speaking alien)

Discovering all these neat little sound-making devices is making my mouth water and my eyes light up. Who has this kind of money, though? Sheesh.

Another important announcement

VALLEYSCHWAG 3 HAS ARRIVED!!!

This time, my booty was a little more impressive, making this evening a much more exciting event after the routine of my day job. Here's a pic of me oogling over just a few of my treasures.

Those cookies were fun, though not terribly fresh, and they were compliments of AOL so I'm not entirely thrilled about the source. But still, who doesn't love Superman?

Also received some nifty stickers, a laptop/game bag from "MI6" that's very nice (though I don't have a laptop to put in it, sadly), a fortune cookie and a nifty poster for the VS Hoedown in SF that I won't be able to attend, sadly.

If I had a camera, I'd take photos of the rest of the booty, but I don't. So you'll just have to enjoy the pic I made above.

Tonight was also a special night in other ways. I celebrated a friend's birthday in a meaningful way, and we later met up at Saffron to join in the open mic festivities. It was the best open mic I've attended in ages. Lon arrived with his flamenco guitar and asked me to bang out some riddims for 'Belarius.' It was great! I kept up! Then Derek did his wonderful acting and poetry, and Captain read some fantastic verse of his own, followed by myself with a few poems and then the Trio. Afterwards, we were blessed with some great earthy guitar music and the vibe was just incredible there. It was also Jenna's birthday (actually, it's today, but we waited til midnight and brought her a little cupcake with a tea light crammed on top of it, ha!).

To Fae, Captain, Jes, Derek, Jonas, Jeremy, Terry, my wife, Jenna, Mark, Lon, and the rest of the gang, thanks for creating such a great vibe last night!!!! WooHoo!

NOVACHILD LIVE @ OK ELECTRIC: September 2006

Went to this festival last year as a spectator. But this year I'm a player.

Also, I should have one or two more live dates for August/September coming up. Keep your eyes glued to my blog for updates.

Lastly, I really really really really need one of these:

I'm getting one. No matter what!
