Only 8 days into January and we've got 1,500 visitors to the site.
The number 1 referrer is brambos.com, because novachild.com hosts a mirror for Tu2 (half my bandwidth! It's still getting lots of attention). Then Google. The rest comes primarily from other bloggers (thanks M!), but I'm starting to see some from the review Chvad posted as well (see yesterday's post for the link).
Some visitors are being referred from a whois server, leading me to believe that I'm getting some traffic from that little christian rock band in St. Louis or wherever. I'm still tempted to turn my site into a shrine for satan just to spite those little buggers. But I have to admit, their singer is pretty and her voice isn't bad. And while I love to support independent musicians, it's hard to appreciate the ones who lift band names from other artists. Yes, trademarking is the all-important deciding factor in these situations, but all one really has to do is look at WHEN the domain was registered and when I released my first CD commercially. And knowing that they KNEW of my existence before picking the name, I have to say that was a little underhanded to 'step on my toes.' I wonder what the fans would think.
Some of the google referrers are coming from people who are looking up names of old bands I was in. That's the power of Google! Just remember that if you ever make the mistake and join a band you don't want to be known for, Google will find you out.
