What a hot mother it's been the last two days. Our a/c unit crapped out the other day, and it just happens to be the hottest week of the year in Oklahoma. On top of that, because of the overwhelming heat, several of our guinea pigs died of heat exhaustion this morning, so we had to borrow money from family members to buy a cheap, almost worthless window unit for the bedroom. We're having to block off the bedroom area to keep the cool going; otherwise, it would dissipate throughout the rest of the house and we'd end up being in the same predicament.
My PC is not in the bedroom, unfortunately, so as I am typing this, great beads of sweat are rolling down my face and absorbing into my clothes. No fan, no windows that can open, nothing. So I'm going to have to run to the bedroom as soon as I type this, yank off my work clothes, and douse myself with a spray bottle to keep cool. What a bummer.
It's times like this that I wonder what in hell I'm working for, when none of it goes to the things that we need the most. Comfort, security, stability. Instead, we waste what little money I make on cheap thrills, weekend trips, and animals. While I love animals, I don't enjoy living miserably to support them. And so I will be working for a less populated home environment in the future, for sure.
Meanwhile, the weekend is here, and it should be getting a bit cooler tomorrow. I have a Dr. Who meeting, but I doubt I'll be at the entire thing because I'm just not up to socializing. Too grumpy, poor, unhappy - and I really shouldn't be around people when I'm in this state. I make solid enemies when I'm in this state, because what little control I have over my sharp, sardonic tongue is lost to the chaos of my mental instability ;-)
That said, I've really been struggling with Chronicle Lite, the blogger client. It doesn't work properly, so it's putting a hamper on my desire to switch to blogger. I honestly have not found a blogger client that isn't unstable, unfriendly. Plus I can't download my posts to my local machine like I can with LJ. The plus: Blogger is installed on my domain. But there really are no other plusses. But I will keep fiddling with it until I know for certain.
Cheers,
Bruce

1. I've had the same problem with heat and animals... I have a ferret, and he has to live in the bedroom, because it's the only room that we can close off and cool with AC.
2. Have you tried Gray Matter journal software? I don't know the website for it (or even if it's "gray" or "grey"), but my wife used it for a while and liked it.

Well, I've managed to get Chronicle Lite to work. I just tell it not to prefill my username/password and it functions correctly. I nearly always have trouble with progs written in Java, perhaps because the runtime environment is always in testing stages....
