Undecided

I'm not sure I want to move to the blogger format.
Sure, it's easier than what I'm used to. But it isn't open-source. It's owned by Google, I believe, which makes it somewhat cool but passe - now that Google is just another big Company and no longer an interesting technological achievement. I do appreciate their continuing R&D, but the day they allowed adverts to penetrate the search results, I knew the day of their reckoning was at hand, and the whole 'coolness' factor was soon to fade away.
However, I'm a little fickle when it comes to using technology to achieve an end. I enjoy the ease of use of blogger, but the open-source ideology of other, possibly better journal technologies.
I suppose it doesn't really matter. In the end, blogging will fade away like the BBS system faded away. Email is giving way to messaging; dynamic forums have replaced bbs and chat, and I don't have time for anything else anyhow. I'm an artist, not a net junkie (though I spend perhaps more time on the web than everyone I know).
Before I go, I urge everyone to listen to the Over The Edge show, "Free Culture (Part 1)." It's the best one in awhile, and it will make you think. Check it out here:

Thus we have reached the end of my first blogger post.
Cheers,
Bruce

I've been using blogger for many years now. It's actually much more stable now that google owns it. (More money for more servers and such.) I like it and I don't. The ease is one of the major likes. Post an entry from anywhere one, two three.
They've added a lot of features lately that help like uploading a file or image and such but they sometimes get too caught up in easy to use (like the formatting stuff now).
It works though. And gets the job done.
