Havia - New Art

I’m in the process of getting my new music up on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon etc. Thought I’d take the opportunity to redo the album art, since I never fully intended the original to be the de facto version. Without further delay, here it is:

Blue Reactor Microphone - Condenser from the Retro-Future

Behold my new “Steampunk meets Jetsons” microphone, the Blue Reactor:

Blue Reactor

This thing is a beauty, and it’s heavy as crap (my only complaint). You could probably take out a zombie if you tossed this gently at their head. I love the sound of this microphone.

Here’s a ‘mic test turned ambient percussion jam’ that I put together last night to explore the rich possibilities of the Blue Reactor.

If you’re looking for a sub-$500 large diaphragm condenser, I would definitely recommend this one for your arsenal. I didn’t even have to mic the backs of the djembes or cajon. Of course, it helps to have a room treated with acoustic panels. This thing is extra-sensitive. It will pick up any sound in your house. Be sure you have a proper room for this beautiful beast.

Ann Marie Dwyer interviews Novachild

Ann Marie Dwyer, a rather prolific blogger and supporter of independent musicians, has interviewed me for “The Coffee Shoppe” blog.

Excerpt:
The M3 Coffee Shoppe has been grooving to the richly unique sound of Novachild. Red jumped at the chance to interview Bruce Rich about the album, Havia. Bruce spilled quite a few personal and industry beans in the process.

M3: What make Havia different from everything else in the genre?

BR: I draw from many wells, and I feel that at least half of the inspiration for Havia came from places no one can touch or share unless they hear it. The other half is style...

Stop by M3 for the rest of the answer and so much more about Novachild and Havia.

Something Warm Single - "Need To Believe"

“Something Warm” is an indie Rock Band from Tulsa, OK. James McGowan, formerly of The Living Machines & the Heat Circle (and guest percussion on Novachild’s “Havia” ) asked me to make a demo of the band. Here is their first release, “Need To Believe.”
